Hard Training

I capped a great block of training in Park City with a long road bike ride this morning. This has been my hardest block of training ever. In the last 28 days, I’ve trained 100 hours. I am tired and looking forward to changing things up tomorrow when I fly to Putney, Vermont for a technique block with my coach Zach Caldwell of Caldwell Sport.

This morning I road the Wolf Creek Pass-Strawberry Reservoir loop out of Heber City, UT. It was 124 miles and took 7 hours.

I started really early this morning because I had to make it back for a meeting with the U.S. Ski Team’s awesome insurance woman Laurie Hamble. I caught the sunrise while riding.

The ride starts with 30 miles uphill to the summit of Wolf Creek Pass. Then drops down into the North Fork of the Duchesne River Valley. Then up and over to Strawberry Reservoir and back down into the Heber Valley. It was a fun loop except the last 55 miles on US40 are narrow with lots of traffic.

I struggled to get a picture of myself biking, but this was my best effort:

  1. Love to see that you were out before sunrise. Always my favorite hours on long rides.
